Our client, one of the UK's largest refuse vehicle specialists, is currently looking to hire a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Technician to join their head office workshop in Dursley.

Reporting to the Workshop Manager and working as part of a friendly workshop team, as a HGV Technician you will ensure that all works carried out on a variety of refuse vehicles are completed to a high standard, within the set time scales and budget, to the customer's satisfaction.

Key responsibilities of the HGV Technician Role will include: 
  • Carry out specified works to a range of refuse vehicles in a safe and timely manner.
  • Diagnose and apply the relevant mechanical repairs.
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
  • Road testing the vehicles to check the repairs work.
  • Deal with unscheduled repairs and checks as they arise.
  • Fitting and servicing accessories like radios and alarms.
  • Service the vehicles and maintain service records sheets.
Do you need to be qualified to be eligible? In short, no!

An IMI/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair would be highly desirable however our client is willing to consider candidates time-served in their experience as a HGV Technician who have their own tool kit. Overall, you will need to be a committed individual and a good team player. You must be able to produce high-quality work in a busy workshop environment and be motivated to work towards targets set for your team. A HGV driving licence would be advantageous but is non-essential.
