With the ever-growing number of independent Recruitment Agencies working from their bedroom with the Yellow pages and a landline, the problem arises of multiple applications for a specific vacancy. Even without deliberately doing this, there are a number of ways this can happen without your knowledge. Adding your CV to a Job board being one.
To name a few problems that can be caused:
- CVs that don't match
- CVs being sent to Managers without your permission
- You not being aware who has your detail
This is to list just a few. The one I would like to focus on is the second one.
Picture the scenario, you upload your CV to a job board after a stressful day at work. Having uploaded an old CV without your current job on, you apply for a position thinking it may just be the way out and turn off your computer. Before you know it, every agency has received your CV from the job board unaware it is not up to date. The professional recruiter calling before sending your CV would become aware it needs updating, however, the agency in a rush sending your CV to every company around your location, hoping for a response before anyone has the chance to speak to you, unfortunately, is a process that some recruitment agencies will follow. (Something Perfect Placement WILL never do). By the agency not speaking to you, they will be unaware it's not up to date. It will go to people you may not want to work for, It COULD even go to your current manager, creating an awkward conversation the next day or potentially even worse. Believe it or not, Recruitment is a sales game, some agencies believe it to be a fastest finger first process (hence the CV spamming) but would you feel comfortable if this was to happen to you? To prevent further confusion... It is NOT the fastest finger first process
The Solution
It is safe to say no one would like to have that awkward conversation with their manager, nor would they like to know their CV has been sent to every company around the area without their permission. The simple solution to this is to send your CV to Perfect Placement, trust they will work alongside the REC code of practice and have your best interests at heart. Once you register with that agency, remove your details from a public domain preventing the above scenario from potentially happening to you.
