As a Car Buyer, you will be responsible for supporting the core sales operation by purchasing high quality vehicles at the right price. With this in mind, the right candidate will have excellent negotiations skills, a strong understanding of the automotive sales process and be able to build rapport easily.

Working within a Main Dealership, a Car Buyer will generally travel to various locations in order to source the right vehicles. You will be expected to liaise with various internal and external departments in a confident and professional way whilst ensuring that you meet all targets efficiently. A key aspect of this role will also be to manage a budget, tracking and recording your expenditure and ensuring that you always make purchases that are cost effective for the business.

Due to the nature of the role, most employers will look to hire someone with a full UK driving license as well as previous experience in sales, customer service or retail. This role would be suited to an experienced Sales Executive looking for the next step in their career. Applicants for this role should be highly motivated and capable of working independently.

Typical working hours for this type of role are generally higher due to the amount of travel involved, so can reach up to 48 hours per week. This usually involves working weekends as and when required. As a Car Buyer you will also get the opportunity to achieve great bonuses based on performance. For this reason, base salaries tend to be lower but OTE can reach £40K and above.
