As a Dealership Accountant in the Automotive industry, you will be responsible for producing monthly management accounts, maintaining the balance sheet, producing annual budgets and providing robust and accurate financial reports. You will be expected to manage the smooth running of the accounts function delivering timely and accurate accounts and using your financial experience to ensure the effective running of the dealership.

Depending on the structure of the business, a Dealership Accountant may be responsible for the accounts departments across multiple sites. This requires time management skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines.  This role involves liaising with multiple people from inside and outside the business therefore an ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to address people at all levels of the business. This could be presenting financial analysis to the Senior Management Team, liaising with the Financial Controller or supporting the Accounts Assistants.

Employers will be looking for candidates with significant experience in Car Dealership Accountancy and a proven track record within the motor industry. The right candidate will also have an excellent understanding of using Accounting IT Packages such as Pinnacle, Kerridge or something similar, along with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Typical working hours in this role are around 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Depending on the location of the Dealership and the experience of the individual, you can earn up to £45,000 per annum plus other benefits. A company car is often included in the package for this role and it comes with much scope for progression.
