The Service Department of a Motorcycle Dealership is divided into two parts. There are the customer facing roles which act as a link between the customer and the workshop and then there is the team working in the workshop that carries out the repairs and services on the bikes. Both sections of the Service Team require specific, but very different skills. With such a cross section of roles available, the Service Department becomes an attractive career choice for people with a variety of skills.
The main responsibility of a Motorcycle Service Department is to provide a level of service that encourages customer loyalty, repeat business and recommendations. This is carried out through selling additional products and services such as extended warranty plans and maintaining contact with the customer post sale to book them in for a scheduled service and then ensuring this is carried out to the highest standards.
Customer facing roles within a Motorcycle Service team include Motorcycle Service Administrators, Service Advisors, and Motorcycle Service Managers among others. These roles require excellent communication and organisational skills as they will act as the link between the customer and the workshop, ensuring the customer is kept informed about timeframes and any costs for additional repairs.
There are also members of the Service Team who are based in the workshop and it is here that they carry out the vehicle maintenance, services and repairs. The workshop team is broadly made up of Motorcycle Technicians and a Workshop Controller. The workshop team will carry out the service and will communicate any additional work required and costs to the Service Advisor who in turn will update the customer and seek approval before the work is carried out.
A great deal of team work is required within the Service Team of a Motorcycle Dealership but with many Dealerships offering great bonus or commission schemes, hard work and dedication is rewarded.
