The role of a Bodyshop Advisor is customer facing and relies greatly on delivering excellent levels of customer service. You will be responsible for all the administration of the Bodyshop including being the first point of contact for customers, booking in vehicles for repairs, processing paper work including claims and administering cash and card payments. The Bodyshop Advisor acts as a link between the customer and the workshop and will keep all parties including insurance companies up to date with the progress of the repairs process.
As the job title suggests, Bodyshop Advisors are based within a Bodyshop also known as an Accident Repair Centre. Bodyshops can be franchised, national businesses or independently owned. All will have their own ways of operating but will expect a Bodyshop Advisor to be able to work in a fast paced environment and have excellent communication and organisational skills.
Working as a Bodyshop Advisor you can expect to work up to 40 hours per week and occasionally at the weekend on a shift basis. This will all depend on the automotive business you are working for. Employers would generally look to take someone on with experience of the accident repair industry, the motor industry or customer service industry at the very least.
The role of a Bodyshop Advisor is one that is pivotal to the success of the business. Working closely with the Vehicle Technicians, Estimators and Bodyshop Manager, the Bodyshop Advisor can enjoy a brilliant career path. With a lot of Car Dealerships offering manufacturer training, a Bodyshop Advisor can progress into a Senior Bodyshop Advisor, Service Team Leader, right up a Service Manager. It is a career that offers high levels of satisfaction and no two days are the same.
