Independent Garages are likely to have a small Administration and Accounts team as their operations are much smaller than a Main Dealership however, working for an Independent usually allows employees to have a hands-on role in the success of the business.

The Administrative roles found in larger Independent Garages include Receptionist and Service Advisor and if it an Independent Dealership there may also be front of house staff, Sales Administrators and Warranty Administrators. These roles all offer support to the wider business by ensuring the operation runs smoothly, records are maintained and customers are satisfied. For customer facing roles such as a Receptionist, employers would generally look to take on someone who is well presented, able to build rapport and offer a great level of customer service.

The Accounts Team of an Independent Garage may be made up of an Accountant and an Accounts Assistant, perhaps more depending on the size of the business. The role of this team is to reconcile accounts and direct debits, deal with customer and supplier queries and oversee the general profitability. These roles require people with experience and often formal qualifications, although as many Independent Garages are family run businesses this is often put down to trust and learned experience.
