As a Human Resources Manager in the Automotive industry you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of professional HR services. These will include giving advice and assistance to management and staff on HR policies, procedures and legislate; advising managers on disciplinary and capability hearings; implementing and monitoring performance management programmes and ensuring good HR practice throughout the organisation. This role is important to the success of any Automotive business because taking care of its people puts them in the best position to work to their highest ability.
It is not uncommon for a HR Manager to manage multiple sites across a franchise of Dealership groups and therefore, will be expected to visit each site to offer face to face support and assist in recruitment campaigns when necessary.
A HR Manager will regularly interact with people at all levels of the business, from the Receptionist and the Sales Advisors, to senior operation staff and Directors which mean excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build a positive and open working culture that places people at the heart of the operation. A successful HR Manager will be a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of Employment Law and relevant legislation.
As a senior role, employers will generally consider experience in another HR Manager to be an essential requirement along with a proven track record of exposure to wide variety of HR projects. Some employers will ask for a degree or that the individual is CIPD Qualified.
Typical hours for this role are up to 40 hours per week and can be fairly flexible. Salaries vary depending on experience of the individual as well as location and size of the Dealership Group but usually range between £35K-£60K.
