The role of a Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Technician is a specialist one which specifically requires experience of diagnostic principles. As a Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Technician you will be responsible for repairing core vehicle systems including engine transmission, electrical systems, braking, steering, suspension, fuel injection and have a solid understanding of vehicle emissions.

This role can be based in a specialist Dealership or a general Bodyshop from a specialist bay. Due to the nature of this role, employers will be looking for a Level 3, fully qualified Technician with experience and qualification in Electric Vehicles. Working within the servicing team, it is crucial that a Technician is a team player who works well under pressure and has a passion for both customer service and keeping up to date with the latest automotive technologies. At times this role will require direct interaction with customers so a friendly and professional approach is key.

As the number of electric and hybrid vehicles on the road increase, the more in demand this job becomes and as the skills gap widens, the more sought after Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Technicians are. For this reason, Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Technicians typically earn slightly more than a general Vehicle Technician. Basic salary can reach up to £30K depending on the experience of the individual and some businesses will also reward their Hybrid Technicians with a performance based bonus of up to £40K.
