The role of a Senior Vehicle Technician requires a fully qualified individual who can deliver high quality work at all times. The main duties attributed to this role include servicing vehicles, carrying out checks and maintenance according to the manufacturers' guidelines, repairing and replacing faulty parts and components and maintaining repair and service records.

As a Senior Vehicle Technician you will be based in a Bodyshop which could either be part of a Main Dealership or a separate, privately owned or franchised repair centre. Working as part of the service team, it is crucial that a Senior Vehicle Technician is a team player who works well under pressure and has a passion for both customer service and keeping up to date with the latest automotive technologies. This role provides the opportunity for regular training and development and for the right person is a stepping stone to more senior positions.

As this is a senior role, employers will generally look to hire someone with qualifications to NVQ level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or Vehicle Mechanics as well as a proven track record of success in a busy service department. A successful Senior Vehicle Technician will also be competent in fault diagnoses and working on complex repairs and diagnostic repairs. They will also hold a full UK Driving license.

Typical working hours for a Senior Vehicle Technician are around 40 hours per week and this will generally include some weekend working. In return, you will be rewarded with a great salary; usually between £26k -£32k depending on the location of the service centre and experience of the individual. Technicians will receive a guaranteed base salary and in some businesses are rewarded a monthly efficiency bonus.
