A Tyre Technician/ Tyre Fitter is responsible for the accurate repair and tyre fitting to vehicles. Other aspects of this role include carrying out wheel alignments, repairing tyres, brakes, steering and suspension as well as ensuring all records and documentation is completed correctly.

Typically a Tyre Technician would be based in a Busy Workshop and would be expected to carry out fits and repairs on a wide range of vehicles however, you could be based in the Bodyshop of a Main Dealership and specialise in just one brand of vehicle or, you could work in a Commercial Bodyshop and fit tyres onto commercial vehicles including HGV and LCV’s. All Bodyshop’s will require a Tyre Technician to deliver work to the highest of standards, carry out work in-line with company procedures and be able to work as part of a team.

The average working hours for a Tyre Technician are around 40 hours per week and this will generally include some weekend working. A full UK Driving license is required for this role. In return, you will be rewarded with a great salary; usually between £24k -£30k (plus overtime) depending on the location of the Bodyshop and experience of the individual.
