The role of a Vehicle Damage Assessor involves inspecting damaged vehicles, assessing the full extent of the damage and preparing estimates on the cost and timeframe of repair. You will be responsible for identifying the most efficient and cost effective way of repairing the vehicle and liaising with Insurers to obtain the authority to carry out the proposed repairs at the costs provided. It is important that a Vehicle Damage Assessor is organised and keeps all records up to date.

This role is based in Bodyshops and will generally involve assessing repairs on a wide range of vehicles. It is essential that the Damage Assessor fully understands different manufactures standards and guidelines and also has a comprehensive understanding of vehicle repairs. Due to the nature of the job you will need to have a full UK Driving Licence and be qualified to ATA, NVQ Level 3, or City and Guilds as well as experience in the accident repair environment. A successful Vehicle Damage Assessor will be an excellent communicator and will be able to build relationships with their team as well as customers and insurers.

The role of a Vehicle Damage Assessor is pivotal to the success of theBodyshop. Working closely with the Vehicle Technicians, Estimators and Bodyshop Manager, the Vehicle Damage Assessor can enjoy a brilliant career path. Typical working hours of a Vehicle Damage Assessor are around 40 hours per week, this can involve working some weekends on a rota basis. Average salaries range between £25K-£30K and most employers will offer a performance based bonus.
