Head of Business - Vehicle Dealership in Harlow, Essex.

Our Motor Trade Client is a well-established independent business, who are a leading specialists in their field. They are seeking a Head of Business who will take responsibility for the overall running of the business, from second facing customers, to KPI’s to ensuring the Workshop and Bodyshop are running smoothly. Reporting into the Directors this role within the organisation will require critical thinking and problem-solving skills, along with written and verbal communication expertise, you must also feel at home working on the front line speaking to customers daily.

They are looking for a Head of Business who not only has a significant proven track record, but someone who is happy to be hands on to nurture and develop the business as well as being confident enough to drive it forward – someone who is going to make a real difference!

Responsibilities of the role will include:

> Leadership and Management
  • Leading and motivating all staff to ensure high levels of performance and productivity.
  • Developing and implementing strategic goals for the dealership.
  • Overseeing recruitment, training, and development of employees to ensure a skilled and motivated workforce.
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the business, ensuring all departments work cohesively.
> Sales and Marketing
  • Setting sales targets for vehicle sales and ensuring these are met or exceeded.
  • Monitoring sales performance, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to increase vehicle sales.
  • Managing relationships with customers, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Developing and overseeing marketing campaigns to promote the dealership, improve brand visibility, and attract new customers.
  • Negotiating and building relationships with suppliers.
> Financial Management
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the business, including profit and loss, budget management, and ensuring profitability.
  • Conducting regular financial analysis and reporting to the Business Owner.
  • Managing inventory and ensuring stock levels are appropriately maintained to balance supply and demand.
  • Ensuring the business adheres to financial controls, maximising operational efficiency, and minimising wastage.
> Compliance and Legal Responsibilities
  • Ensuring that all dealership activities comply with relevant UK laws and regulations (such as FCA regulations, consumer protection laws, and environmental standards).
  • Managing health and safety procedures and ensuring the dealership provides a safe working environment for employees and customers.
  • Staying updated on industry regulations and ensuring all compliance standards are maintained.
> Customer Service and Relations
  • Overseeing the customer service function, ensuring high standards are maintained across all customer touchpoints and second facing customers.
  • Resolving customer complaints or issues and acting as the main point of contact for key clients.
  • Developing strategies for customer retention.
> Operations and Efficiency
  • Reviewing and improving business processes to increase operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring smooth operations across all departments, including sales, aftersales, service, bodyshop and administration.
  • Implementing systems and processes for stock management, vehicle preparation, and servicing.
> Performance Reporting
  • Providing regular reports on business performance, sales figures, customer satisfaction, and other key performance indicators (KPIs) to Business Owner.
  • Developing and monitoring specific performance targets for staff, tracking progress, and providing feedback.
  • Formulating long-term business plans and strategies to increasing market share and customer base.
Requirements for this Head of Business role includes:
  • Upper Senior Managerial level and Car Sales experience with a proven track record running a successful Vehicle Dealership.
  • Experienced in leading a team from the front and delivering results.
  • Automotive Financial acumen.
  • Pro-active & commercial awareness to be able to make the most of sales and business opportunities.
  • Be an excellent communicator.
  • Have confident IT skills.
  • Man-management and team building skills/experience.
Details & Benefits of this Head of Business vacancy:
  • Comparative Basic Salary of up to £60,000 p.a. 
  • Profit Share on top taking your overall salary to £100,000 p.a. providing targets achieved.
