Commercial Vehicle Workshop Controller required in Swindon.
  • Competitive salary pending experience plus access to performance-related bonuses.
  • Monday to Friday 6:00am-4:00pm with a ½ hour unpaid lunch break. Also, 1 in 3 Saturdays, 8:00am to 12:00pm.

Our client, a multi-franchise approved commercial vehicle dealership situated in Swindon, are currently looking to recruit a Workshop Controller to join their business.

Reporting to the Aftersales Manager, as a Workshop Controller, you will be fully responsible for running the day-to-day function of our client's workshops, where you will plan, control and deliver on overall workshop performance.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Monitor and control use of all workshop resources (HGV Technicians, space and equipment) to ensure maximum impact on quality of work, efficiency and profitability.  
  • Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and safe operation of the workshop.
  • Be an active member of the service department team comprising workshop reception, foreman and stores to encourage high staff morale, timely customer care, workshop efficiency and productivity.  
  • Monitor, resolve and report any action as appropriate to any health and safety issues in accordance with company policy.
To be eligible, you will need to have a proven track record in successfully controlling/managing an automotive workshop. Experience workshop controlling within a commercial vehicle-oriented company would be highly advantageous; however is non-essential. Overall, you will have excellent communication skills, good interpersonal skills and team orientation, be results-oriented, have problem-solving and decision-making skills, put a focus on quality and reliability, have experience working towards targets, and be IT literate. You will also need to have a UK driving license with minimal points.
