Our client’s relationship with their Commercial Vehicle Manufacturer has been going strong for over 30 years, so you know you’ll be joining a well-respected brand and business!
They are currently seeking an HGV Technician to join the well-equipped commercial vehicle workshop based in Southampton.
Whether you are an experienced HGV Mechanic, have worked on LCVs or an accomplished Vehicle Technician looking to develop your skill into becoming an HGV Technician our client is able to provide a pathway of development for you!
We’ve worked with this Client for several years; they continue to invest in both their staff and workshop. This is a great role for any budding HGV Technicians within the Southampton, Eastleigh, Winchester, and surrounding areas!

- A Competitive Basic Salary up to £41,600
- Opportunity for overtime at £19.68 p.h.
- Rotating Days and Afternoon Shifts - Monday 1pm-9pm, Tuesday 6am-2pm, Wednesday 1pm-9pm, Thursday 6am-2pm, Friday 1pm-9pm, Saturday 6-2pm (midday if so wishes)

- Receive job cards as allocated by the workshop controller and review work with supervisors as required.
- Perform routine maintenance and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
- Test drive vehicles and test components and systems, using equipment such as computerised diagnostic devices.
- Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
- Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes.
- Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.
- Repair and service air conditioning (when appropriately trained) heating, engine-cooling, and electrical systems.
- Identifying errors / problems and determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Quality Control Analysis — Conducting tests and inspections to evaluate quality or performance.
- Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
- Qualified to NVQ Level 3 or Equivalent with HGV Repair, LCV, or Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- Previous experience within a Commercial Vehicle Environment
- Strong understanding of technical issues and the ability to resolve them.
- Adaptable team player
- Ability to think on your feet with a 'can do' attitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership and customer service skills.
