- Position: HGV Technician
- Location: Belvedere, South East London
- Hours: Alternate weeks: Monday-Saturday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM then Monday-Friday, 2:30 PM - 10:00 PM
- Pay: £38,800 - £43,000 annually (depending on ability) plus overtime
We are seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join our Client’s Commercial Vehicle Business in Belvedere, South East London. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a respected company and develop your skills in a supportive environment.
This is What You'll Be Doing:
- Responsible for fast and accurate diagnoses using diagnostic tools and for choosing the right repair techniques.
- Work independently to maintain and repair Commercial / Heavy Goods vehicles and components.
- Carry out a range of inspections (MOT, tacho, etc.).
- Provide support and daily mentoring for less experienced technicians.
- Carry out final checks on work that has been completed.
- A completed secondary vocational education.
- Broad vehicle-related technical knowledge, preferably in commercial vehicles or light commercial vehicles
- Extensive experience in carrying out repairs and maintenance on trucks, components, and associated vehicles.
- Familiarity with developments in the automotive industry.
- Collaborate with team members to foster strong employee and customer relationships, ensuring the workshop meets its goals and targets.
- Perform accurate diagnostics and repairs based on repair orders.
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and adheres to guidelines.
- Maintain the functionality of machines and tools.
- Aim for a zero rectification ratio by getting it right the first time.
- Communicate with the workshop manager about necessary parts and labour for additional repairs.
- Record and report the time spent on repair and maintenance tasks.
- Keep the workshop clean and safe at all times.
- A City & Guilds or NVQ level 3 qualification (essential).
- Experience working with HGVs in a fleet or commercial setting.
- A practical understanding of using IT systems to achieve objectives.
- A strong commitment to safety and a right-first-time approach.
- A flexible, can-do attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- An HGV Class 1 Driving license (preferred).
- Experience with tail lifts (desirable).
