Our client is a family-run, independent service centre located in Horsham, West Sussex, with a well-earned reputation for expert service and customer care. Their close-knit team of 5 technicians works across 6 ramps, and they’re searching for a motivated Workshop Manager to lead the way and keep operations running smoothly.
This is no ordinary desk job! You’ll be working hands-on in the workshop, with around 75% of your time off the tools, focusing on mentoring the team, managing the day-to-day flow, and solving complex technical issues.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Running the workshop: Keep things moving efficiently, manage the daily schedule, and make sure every job stays on track.
- Leading with technical expertise: Be the go-to person for high-level diagnostics, problem-solving, and guiding technicians when they hit roadblocks.
- Mentoring the team: Help grow and develop your technicians by offering guidance and ensuring first-time fixes with top-quality work.
- MOT quality control: Experience with Class 4 MOTs is a plus, especially if you can oversee quality control.
- Managing diagnostic tools: Keep the diagnostic equipment up to date and ready for action.
- Master Technician Level: Extensive experience in diagnostics and solving complex issues is a must.
- Leadership skills: You might already have management experience, or you’re ready to take the leap into a leadership role.
- Problem-solver: You don’t just identify issues—you bring solutions.
- MOT Quality Control: Experience here is desirable but not essential.
- Familiarity with Garage Hive and electronic vehicle safety systems is a big bonus!
This is more than just a job—it’s an opportunity to thrive in a family-run business that values quality work, teamwork, and personal growth. Along with a competitive salary, you’ll enjoy:
- No weekend work—enjoy your weekends off!
- 20 days of holiday plus bank holidays.
- Christmas closure for that well-deserved break.
- Sick pay and a pension plan to give you peace of mind.
- Social events, including Christmas dinners and occasional Friday lunches, to foster that family atmosphere.
