Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester
  • Location: Gravesend, Kent
  • Salary: Up to £38,000 Basic DOE and Skills + Overtime
  • Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 am – 5:30 pm (30-minute lunch break, tea breaks)
  • Optional Saturday: 8:00 am - 1:00 pm when required
  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Our client a well-established, family-run car garage based in Gravesend, Kent who have been operating in the local area for over 40 years. Their team is dedicated to providing an excellent service and repair work to their loyal customers for all of their automotive repair needs. Our client is now looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester to join their friendly and long standing workshop team.

Key Responsibilities as a Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester:
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on various vehicles, including brakes, suspension, steering, and engines.
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot mechanical issues.
  • Conduct MOT tests (if qualified) and ensure vehicles meet safety and roadworthiness standards.
  • Test drive vehicles to verify repairs and ensure top-quality workmanship.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed.
  • Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs and services to clients.
  • Work efficiently within a team to meet job deadlines.
Requirements as a Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester:
  • Fully qualified with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Motor Mechanics.
  • MOT tester certification is highly desirable.
  • A valid UK driving license is essential.
  • Experience with running diagnostic checks and fault finding.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the motor vehicle industry.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain high service standards.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
