This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Panel Technician to join a well-run, respectable Accident Repair Centre who pride themselves on their quality of work and customer care. The successful Panel Beater will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar Panel / Crash Repair role, either with a main dealership or at a Crash Repair Bodyshop. Our client is looking for somebody who uses a combination of technical skills, attention to detail and creativity to effectively restore damaged vehicles.
What the Panel Beater job involves:
- Repairing Body Damage
- Welding & Fabrication
- Alignment and Structural repairs
- Assessment and Estimation: Valuate the extent of damage to a vehicle's body. Provide accurate cost estimates for repairs. Assess whether a vehicle is repairable or if parts need to be replaced.
- Repairing Body Damage: Straighten or reshape damaged body panels using specialized tools and equipment. Remove dents, creases, and other imperfections from metal surfaces. Replace or repair damaged sections of the vehicle's body, including panels, fenders, and bumpers.
- Welding and Fabrication: Perform welding tasks to repair or join metal components. Fabricate and weld new parts when necessary.
- Surface Preparation: Strip old paint and damaged coatings from vehicle surfaces. Sand, fill, and smooth surfaces to prepare them for painting.
- Alignment and Structural Repairs: Check and adjust the alignment of body panels to ensure proper fit. Repair and straighten structural components to restore the vehicle's integrity.
- Quality Control: Conduct thorough inspections to ensure all repairs meet industry standards and customer expectations. Test drive vehicles to check for any issues related to alignment or performance.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate with customers to explain the repair process and address any concerns. Provide advice on maintenance and care to prevent future damage.
- Adherence to Safety Standards: Follow safety procedures and guidelines while using tools and equipment. Dispose of hazardous materials properly.
- 20 days holiday + bank holidays
- £45,000 - £50,000 Basic Salary - no bonus, overtime paid at x1.20 of hourly rate
