About this All Round Bodyshop Technician role:
We are seeking a skilled Body Shop Technician to prepare and paint the vehicle's side or front ends to a high standard. This role includes repairing damage from bumper scuffs to chips, scratches, and minor dents, with occasional full paint jobs on chippy front ends. No welding or jig work is involved, focusing on light panel repairs.
Responsibilities for this Body Shop Technician include:
- Accident Damage Repair: Inspect and repair vehicles with accident-related damage, including bodywork, frame, and structural repairs.
- Panel Beating: Use specialised tools to straighten frames and panels, ensuring vehicles meet manufacturer specifications.
- Paint Preparation & Refinishing: Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, priming, and masking, followed by applying paint finishes to a high standard using spray guns.
- Parts Replacement: Remove and replace damaged or worn-out parts, such as bumpers, doors, panels, and structural components, to restore vehicle functionality and appearance.
- Alignments & Adjustments: Use advanced alignment equipment to adjust vehicle suspension and alignments, ensuring the vehicle is properly calibrated post-repair.
- Quality Control Inspections: Conduct thorough final inspections of repaired vehicles to ensure they meet quality, safety, and industry standards before release to customers.
- Damage Assessment & Reporting: Accurately assess and document vehicle damage, providing detailed reports for management and insurance purposes.
- Tool & Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and care for tools and repair equipment, ensuring they are in optimal working condition and comply with safety standards.
- Collaboration with Technicians: Work closely with other team members, including estimators and mechanics, to ensure efficient repair processes and time lines are met.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations to maintain a safe and efficient working environment for all staff.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience in body shop or smart repair preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and systematic approach to work.
- Familiarity with prestige dealership standards beneficial.
