- Family Run Car Dealer
- Pay: £38,000 - 42,000 Basic DOE with an OTE + £9,000 per year
- Hours: 8am - 6pm Monday - Friday with no weekends
A Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) / Sales Vehicle Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring that vehicles are in optimal condition before they are sold and delivered to customers. A PDI Technician day-to-day duties include a combination of inspection, testing, and preparation tasks.
The Duties for this PDI Car Mechanic role with our client include:
- Inspection Duties: Visual Inspections: Conduct thorough visual inspections of new vehicles for any signs of damage, defects, or missing parts. Mechanical Inspections: Check all mechanical components, including engine, transmission, brakes, and suspension systems. Electrical Inspections: Test all electrical systems, such as lights, indicators, wipers, and infotainment systems, to ensure they are functioning correctly. Fluid Levels: Check and top off all essential fluids, including engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, and transmission fluid.
- Testing Duties: Road Testing: Perform Road tests to identify any issues that may not be apparent during stationary inspections. Diagnostic Testing: Use diagnostic tools to check the vehicle’s electronic control units (ECUs) for any fault codes or issues. Emissions Testing: Ensure the vehicle meets the required emissions standards.
- Preparation Duties: Cleaning and Detailing: Clean the interior and exterior of the vehicle to showroom standards. Accessory Installation: Install any additional accessories or features requested by the customer, such as GPS systems, roof racks, or custom interiors. Software Updates: Perform any necessary software updates to the vehicle’s onboard systems. Documentation: Complete all required documentation, including PDI checklists, warranty information, and service records.
- Communication and Coordination: Reporting Issues: Report any defects or issues found during the inspection to the relevant department for rectification. Coordination: Work closely with sales and service departments to ensure timely delivery of vehicles. Customer Interaction: Occasionally interact with customers to explain vehicle features or address any pre-delivery concerns.
- Quality Control Adherence to Standards: Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications and dealership standards. Continuous Improvement: Participate in ongoing training and development to stay updated on new vehicle technologies and inspection techniques.
- Safety and Compliance: Safety Checks: Perform safety checks to ensure the vehicle is safe for operation. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all inspections and preparations meet local, state, and federal regulations.
- Miscellaneous Duties Inventory Management: Assist with managing inventory of parts and tools necessary for PDI tasks. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all inspections, tests, and preparations.
- You will require a driving licence.
- You will also need your own tools.
- Able to work unsupervised
The basic salary is experience and attitude dependable in the region of £35,000 - £42,000 with bonuses and team incentives. Our client is not scared to pay a good salary for a good PDI Mechanic for their Car Dealership.
