  • Hours: Monday – Friday 08:00 – 18:00, No weekends
Due to a valued team member taking early retirement, we are seeking an Experienced Workshop Manager/Controller to lead a busy and successful workshop in Portsmouth.

Our client is a well-established Franchised Main Dealer, employing over 420 staff across Hampshire & Surrey. They offer stable, well-paid employment, a positive work environment, and continuous professional development.

As a Workshop Controller, you will be leading a large, successful service operation in a state-of-the-art workshop with a fully digitally integrated service & workshop system. You will work closely with the Aftersales Manager, stepping in when required to ensure the department continues to run efficiently.

This role is ideal for an experienced Workshop Controller, Assistant Service Manager, or Aftersales Manager looking for a leadership role in a fast-paced environment. Strong people management and organisational skills are essential.

Your Responsibilities as a Workshop Controller:
  • Overseeing workshop operations to ensure efficiency and quality service
  • Managing Technicians, Apprentices, and Support Staff (14 Technicians, 4 Apprentices)
  • Allocating jobs to Technicians based on skillset and workload
  • Ensuring high customer service standards in collaboration with the Service Manager
  • Maximising productivity through effective resource planning
  • Handling customer queries and ensuring smooth service operations
  • Supporting staff development and training within the department
What We’re Looking For:
  • Proven experience in a Workshop Controller / Manager role or similar
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Hands-on leadership style, driving performance and efficiency
  • Experience with Pinnacle or another Dealer Management System (preferred)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
