Automotive Non Technical Workshop Manager – Public Sector Fleet
  • Salary: Starting Salary £39,813 
  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
  • Working Hours: 8- 4.30pm Monday - Friday ONLY!
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Workshop Manager to join a transport service supporting a Public Services Employer. This is a unique and rewarding role for an experienced leader in vehicle maintenance and workshop management, ensuring that a diverse fleet of vehicles remains operational and maintained to the highest standards.

This job role would be suitable for a Senior Service Advisor, Workshop Controller or even a Automotive Industry experienced Service Manager looking for a change of direction! 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee workshop operations to meet the operational demands of your employer
  • Lead, develop, and manage a team of skilled technicians.
  • Implement and standardise procedures and policies across all Fleet workshop sites.
  • Ensure servicing, maintenance, and repairs comply with manufacturer guidelines and safety regulations.
  • Manage workshop budgets, ensuring cost efficiency in maintenance and repairs.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and best practice in all workshop activities.
  • Work closely with the Parts & Logistics Manager to maintain appropriate stock levels.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety 
  • Maintain effective communication across all workshop locations and with key stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to generate external income for the department.
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Proven experience managing vehicle maintenance within a commercial or public sector environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in team motivation and staff development.
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities to manage workflow efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience working independently while also collaborating within a wider team.
  • Knowledge of budget management and expenditure control.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development, staying up to date with industry legislation and best practices.
