Auto Electricians are responsible for a variety of technical duties based around vehicle electrics. These would typically include; diagnostic work, wiring defaults and repairs as well as fitting electrical accessories such as cameras and warning systems to vehicles.
Auto Electricians may work within a Main Dealership’s service department or be based in a workshop or bodyshop. Some businesses may offer mobile repairs which would require you to work off-site.
Most Auto-Electricians will work between 37-40 hours per week on a shift rota which includes weekends and bank holidays. In return they tend to earn a good salary and other benefits.
The role of Auto Electrician is diverse and has much potential for growth for the right candidate. The natural next steps would be a promotion to Senior Technician, then upwards to Quality Controller or Workshop Controller.
