Working as a Fast Fit Vehicle Technician can be a rewarding job with plenty of scope to progress your career.
Based in a Fast Fit Repair Centre this environment differs from that of a general mechanic in that Fast Fit Centres will accept walk in appointments as well as bookings and will work to deliver repairs as fast as possible within a compliant and health and safety regulated environment. Compared to a general Bodyshop this environment is more pressured.
The role of a Vehicle Technician is one that is highly physical and requires skills and expertise as well as qualifications. These qualifications typically include minimum level 2 City & Guilds, NVQ or IMI accreditation in Light Vehicle Mechanics. Your day to day activities will typically include repairing, maintaining and servicing a wide range of vehicles. With over 30 million vehicles serviced each year, the role of a Vehicle Technician is a very busy one.
As a Fast Fit Vehicle Technician for Light Vehicles, you can typically expect to be working between 40 -45hours per week, Monday to Friday with Saturdays on a Rota Basis.
In your career as a Vehicle Technician, you will be expected to complete a motor mechanic apprenticeship, from there you will be working as a Service Technician. Further development and experience gained will progress your Auto Technician career onto that of a Diagnostic Technician, Senior Technician and onto Master Technician. From there you could work your way up to Workshop Controller and eventually Fast Fit Branch Manager.
