A Fleet Controller is a logistical role which centres on managing and distributing fleet vehicles, ensuring they are maintained to a satisfactory level cleaning, Servicing, MOT records, wear and tear reports, managing repairs including estimates and insurance claims and ensuring full adherence to all legal requirements.
Working within the Commercial side of the automotive industry, a Fleet Controller should have knowledge of DVSA requirements and the legislation surrounding transportation. Much of this role depends on organisation and information management skills whether that be recording fuel costs or service schedules, ensuring every vehicle and its driver are compliant or negotiating with suppliers to get the best deal possible on new Vehicles.
A successful Fleet Controller will be a forward thinker, able to meet deadlines and be competent in Microsoft packages in order to keep detailed and up to date records on every vehicle under their control. Experience of Mechanics and of the fleeting and logistics industry is a bonus for employers looking for their next Fleet Controller.
