The role of a Roadside Assistance Technician centres on attending breakdowns and either carrying out repairs or maintenance on a vehicle or recovering the vehicle where necessary. This role can be high pressured and can involve some challenging working conditions but it’s critical that a Roadside Assistance Technician is a friendly, comforting and positive presence to the customer. In a sense, Roadside Assistance Technicians are the customer’s knight in shining armour, coming to their rescue.
A Roadside Technician is based out on the road and although you will be part of a wider team, this role involves a lot of working independently. In most cases, you will be assigned a specific geographical area and will respond to calls from a main call centre which involve breakdowns within this area.
The working hours of a Roadside Assistance Technician can vary on a weekly basis, as they work shift patterns. Many Roadside Breakdown providers operate 24/7 so you should expect to work some weekend and evening shifts.
This role is great for an experienced Technician, Fast Fit Technician or Senior Technician looking for a change in direction and also offers scope for progression including roles such as Shift Supervisor or Regional Manager.
