The role of a Tyre Technician is one that is highly physical and requires skill and expertise. Day to day duties include carrying out wheel alignments, repairing tyres, brakes, steering and suspension as well as ensuring all records and documentation is completed correctly.
You will typically work alone, although will be part of a team, whose size will vary from 2 to 30 depending on the size of the business and you could be servicing and repairing a range of vehicles including Motorcycles, Cars, Vans, LCVs, HGVs, Trucks and Buses and Coaches. With over 30 million vehicles serviced each year – the role of a Vehicle Tyre Technician is a very busy one.
As a Tyre Technician you can typically expect to be working 40 hours week, Monday to Friday with Saturdays on a Rota Basis.
If promotion is what you are looking for you can work your way up to Vehicle or Motorcycle Technician, Senior Technician and then Master Technician. You could also transfer your skills and work as an Estimator or Quality Controller.
