They are responsible for fully examining the vehicle and determining what, if any, damage has occurred while the vehicle has been on lease.
A Vehicle Returns Inspector could be based within a Dealership within a leasing department or in an independent Leasing Business. Alternatively this role could be field based, with the Vehicle Returns Inspector travelling to the customer to carry out these checks a few weeks before their lease is due up.
This is a diverse role which involves working with a range of vehicles and manufacturers as well as having direct interaction with customers. Having a strong understanding of manufacturer’s guidelines and an eye for detail are both important qualities required for this job. For the right person, this role offers plenty of scope for progression. Some may use their aftersales skills and become a Service Team Leader and then a Service Manager, others may utilise their knowledge for the vehicles and become a Vehicle Leasing Sales Manager, the opportunities are wide open.
Typical working hours for a Vehicle Returns Inspector are around 40 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday but could involve working an occasional Saturday as and when required.
