This blog is created off the back of a chance meeting and beer I had the other night with my degree dissertation supervisor from some 15 years ago.
Like many degree students June, July and August 2000 were difficult months, I knew I needed a job; the bank of Mum & Dad had declined further attempts to draw on them, and I was still living in my chosen University town.
I knew I needed a job, but not (I had decided) in my degree subject; three years was enough!
Now without this turning into a parable of woe, I’ll tell you this, Between 2000 and 2006 I had 13 jobs... one of them lasted three years!!
I started looking for a job not knowing what I wanted and some six years later was still the same, although by then I was Married and had a child on the way!
When I boil down what I was looking for it was three things: A chance to shine, A chance to have some autonomy over my career and to be rewarded for my successes.
For various reasons what I’d fallen into, in those six years had a maximum of one of those things.
A degree (no matter what subject) tells you and an employer three things: You can stick at a task, you can cope on your own, and you can meet deadlines, all of which are employability ticks.
I know, thanks to the wonder of Facebook, that many of my Alumni are not working in the field that their degree specialised.
I’m the Legal Compliance Manager and a Principal Consultant for a Leading Recruitment Agency, but I did a Degree in Medieval History.
Perfect Placement came by me by chance, and in turn, I came by them by chance, but nine years later I know this is the last employer I will ever have or need.
If you’ve read this far, then you’ll want to know why you should get involved, so here are some key points that few other Norwich based employers will be able to tell you:
- A Family owned and run company where all 5 of the family are involved daily.
- A progressive career opportunity where autonomy and earnings increase at each stage
- An employee designed workspace and 3,000 sq foot chill out area
- Including- Pool Tables, Game Consoles, Table Tennis and Putting Green.
- High earning potential.
Honestly in 2014 Perfect Placement Area Managers were in the Top 15 best-paid jobs in the UK, above HR Managers, Senior Police Officers and Solicitors
In Norwich, where we are based, you’d be hard pushed to find better opportunities at entry-level.
A friendly atmosphere – Since joining Perfect Placement, I now count every member of staff as a friend, no cliques, no fractions!
Pride – We are three times winner of the Recruitment Agency of the Year in our sector.
So what do we do?
We work with the Automotive Trade to source and select suitable candidates for their vacancies.
What are we offering?
A genuine opportunity based on your desire, we are currently looking to hire between five and ten new staff to assist in our growth and continue the journey we are on.
How far you go, how long you enjoy the ride and how much you earn is down to you.
Conclusion:
My old Lecturer said to me over a beer that the University was looking to increase its pastoral care, and we mused that it was no longer good enough for a seat of learning to send young adults out into the world of work with no idea what to do next.
If you have recently graduated or have found a new job after graduating and it’s not everything you want. I’m offering you a chance, a chance not to have 5 failed jobs to find the dream one. It exists, and it might be here.
