Workshop Manager – Family-Run Service Centre
  • Location: Horsham, West Sussex
  • Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 (DOE)
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM (no weekends!)

Are you a skilled Master Technician or Diagnostic Technician looking to step up into a leadership role? Do you love solving tricky problems, mentoring others, and ensuring every job is done perfectly the first time? If so, our client is eager to meet you!

Our client is a family-run, independent service centre located in Horsham, West Sussex, with a well-earned reputation for expert service and customer care. Their close-knit team of 5 technicians works across 6 ramps, and they’re searching for a motivated Workshop Manager to lead the way and keep operations running smoothly.

This is no ordinary desk job! You’ll be working hands-on in the workshop, with around 75% of your time off the tools, focusing on mentoring the team, managing the day-to-day flow, and solving complex technical issues.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Running the workshop: Keep things moving efficiently, manage the daily schedule, and make sure every job stays on track.
  • Leading with technical expertise: Be the go-to person for high-level diagnostics, problem-solving, and guiding technicians when they hit roadblocks.
  • Mentoring the team: Help grow and develop your technicians by offering guidance and ensuring first-time fixes with top-quality work.
  • MOT quality control: Experience with Class 4 MOTs is a plus, especially if you can oversee quality control.
  • Managing diagnostic tools: Keep the diagnostic equipment up to date and ready for action.
What You’ll Need:
  • Master Technician Level: Extensive experience in diagnostics and solving complex issues is a must.
  • Leadership skills: You might already have management experience, or you’re ready to take the leap into a leadership role.
  • Problem-solver: You don’t just identify issues—you bring solutions.
  • MOT Quality Control: Experience here is desirable but not essential.
  • Familiarity with Garage Hive and electronic vehicle safety systems is a big bonus!
