Within this MOT Tester role your typical duties will include:
- Conducting Inspections: MOT testers are responsible for thoroughly inspecting vehicles to ensure they meet the legal safety and environmental standards set by DVSA.
- Identifying Defects: Testers must accurately identify any defects or issues with the vehicle that could affect its safety or environmental impact. This includes checking components such as brakes, lights, tires, suspension, and emissions systems.
- Documenting Findings: You need to document their findings accurately, recording any defects discovered during the inspection process. This documentation is essential for providing feedback to vehicle owners and for maintaining records required by the DVSA.
- Communicating with the Dealership Service team: Testers need to communicate their findings to Service advisors who can advise the cars owners, explaining any defects found and advising on necessary repairs or maintenance to ensure the vehicle passes its MOT test.
- Maintaining Equipment: Taking responsibility for ensuring that testing equipment is properly calibrated and maintained to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Staying Informed: Keeping up-to-date with changes in MOT testing regulations and procedures is essential for MOT testers to perform their duties effectively and maintain compliance with relevant standards.
