MET Technicians are an essential part of the body repair process. When cars or vehicles are damaged through collision (or deliberate damage!) the team of bodyshop technicians all have different roles to perform to restore the vehicle back to its former glory.
MET Technicians concentrate on the Mechanical and Electrical Trim components of vehicles. They are also known as MET Fitters or Strip Fitters. They are often the first and last part in the Bodyshop process, firstly removing the components before the vehicle is passed onto the Panel Beater and Vehicle Refinisher, and then replacing these components after they have completed the work they needed to.
MET Technicians can be found working within independently owned Accident Repair Centres, Dealership run Bodyshops, Insurance run bodyshops and also large fleet operators. With experience within the MET Fitter role, they can see their careers progress onto a Bodyshop Controller or Bodyshop Supervisor and then onto a Bodyshop Manager position.
Working hours for this role are typically 40hours per week Monday to Friday with the opportunity for overtime at the weekend; however, this is dependent on the type of Bodyshop worked for.
