Service Administrator
A Vehicle Service Administrator is responsible for the front of house service to customers of the Service Centre. The main duties include booking customer’s vehicles in for Service, MOT or repairs, advising on any work required including costs, arranging collection of vehicles, taking payments and keeping customers informed along the way. It is important that the highest level of customer care and satisfaction are met at all times
A Service Administrator works within the Service Team which can be found in a Main Dealership, an independently owned garage or an Accident Repair Centre.
Working as an Vehicle Service Administrator is a role that requires the highest level of customer service and excellent communication skills as they act as the link between the Bodyshop and the customer. It is important that the Service Administrator understands mechanical terminology and can relay this in a way that the customer understands.
Working closely with the Vehicle Technicians, Workshop Controller and Service Manager, the Service Administrator can enjoy a brilliant career path. With a lot of Car Dealerships offering manufacturer training, a Service Administrator can progress into a Service Advisor, Service Team Leader and finally a Service Manager or Aftersales Manager. It is a career that offers high levels of satisfaction and no two days are the same. The Service Administrator ‘s hours reflect those of the service department, so typically they will work a 40hour week Monday to Friday and will often find that they work a Saturday morning on a rota basis.
